We are making progress – SCHIP

Workers carry out density testing on sections of the May Pen to Williamsfield leg of the highway under construction. (South Coast Highway Improvement Project – SCHIP).

The test is used to determine the strength of underlying and base layers of the soil by measuring its resistance to penetration.

The test is important as it can identify weak spots in embankments, measure uniformity of material and locate boundaries of sub-cuts.
