Labour Day 2025 – Uplifting Communities Through Action

In observance of Labour Day 2025 under the national theme ‘Protect the Environment: Our Land, Our Duty, Our Future,’ with the slogan, ‘Jamaica Nice, Protect Wi Paradise’, the National Road Operating and Constructing Company Limited (NROCC) proudly executed a dual-site social responsibility initiative on May 23, 2025. This effort underscores our commitment to national development and the enhancement of communities within the vicinity of our infrastructure projects.

The selected locations were Cornwall Courts Kiddies Park and the Old Salt Spring Basic School which were identified following stakeholder engagement and a detailed needs assessment survey carried out by NROCC’s Social Responsibility Committee. Both communities are in close proximity to the Montego Bay Perimeter Road and Long Hill Bypass Project, and the initiatives aligned directly with our Social Responsibility Policy objectives of community development, public health, and infrastructure improvement.

Positive Community Impact

This initiative not only addressed long-standing community concerns but also demonstrated our dedication to fostering strong local relationships and enhancing the quality of life for residents. By revitalizing a key recreational facility and supporting the repurposing of a former school into a multipurpose centre, NROCC is investing in sustainable infrastructure that benefits future generations.
